A kernel of wheat

There are ties that bind me to some of those I love. I wish these ties did not have to exist, but they do, and there is no going back now. And I love these people with a ferocity I cannot account for.

Very few people do I really, existentially, give one crap about.

I have always been selfish and tribal like that.

But these people…I would go through hell for. And I have. When they smile, for some reason, my heart leaps.

There are some deals I wish could have been done differently. I don’t like the terms. I don’t like the cost.

Yet a truth strikes me in these moments:

“Very truly I tell you, unless a kernel of wheat falls to the ground and dies, it remains only a single seed. But if it dies, it produces many seeds.”

And so we walk on. It is a long road that stretches into eternity. And we are bound by ties that will never break.
